"Zanu PF preach peace, to say otherwise is mischievous," says Rugeje, a veteran thug itching to punish the mischievous

“Zanu PF is a political party that respects the liberty of the people and respects harmony and peace. Zanu PF has always propagated love for one another and we thrive on unity.  This allegation that soldiers have been deployed all over to assist is not true. We have structures as Zanu PF of our own members who are on the ground,” said Engelbert Rugeje.

A few weeks ago President Mnangagwa also denied that Zanu PF has even rigged elections included the land mark 2008 elections. “Where is the evidence of vote rigging?” He argued with the UK Economist reporter.

This confirms that we are dealing with a party of seasoned thugs. Rugeje was one of the army thugs who became notorious in the wanton violence of 2008 and 2013 elections and for him to now pretend these events did not even happen show that Zanu PF has not changed or repented.

“We have been preaching peace starting with the president and the top leadership of the party.   Even in our gatherings are those outside Zanu PF and government, we have always been preaching about peace, peace and non-violence and for anyone to allege that we are fomenting violence in the rural areas it is mischievous,” Rugeje maintain.

How cynical!

So, ED and the whole junta leadership is out preaching peace and non-violence and yet the regime has stubbornly refused to implement the democratic reforms giving the Police their statutory powers to investigate, arrest and charge all those responsible to politically motivated violence. If the Police had those powers Rugeje and many other Zanu PF thugs would still be in jail. President Mnangagwa would not be asking the stupid question; “Where is the evidence of election violence?”

If you are going to rig the elections get your own thugs to police the whole flawed and illegal electoral process. That way, you can be absolutely certain there will be no Police records, no evidence, no arrests, no court convictions, nothing. In the mayhem of the 2008 run-off elections, millions of Zimbabweans were forced out of their homes, beaten up and/or raped. Over 500 were murdered. But because the Police are so politically, they are a department of Zanu PF in all but name, no one was ever arrested.

Indeed, the Police joined their fellow Zanu PF thugs in punishing the people for daring to reject Zanu PF in the March 2008 vote and making sure they never ever do it again. Political Commissar Rugeje has been reminding people of the violence of 2008 and 2013 if they do not vote for Zanu PF in the coming elections.

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs who have enjoyed absolute power for the last 38 years because they rigged elections, cheated and used violence to secure victory. Anyone who thinks the regime will now play by the rules and hold free and fair elections is naïve, to say the least.

The only way to end this vicious cycle of rigged elections is for the country to be forced to implement the reforms BEFORE the elections. The flawed elections must be declared null and void and thus force the country to appoint an interim administration that will implement the reforms. There is no other way out!

“Zanu PF is preaching peace, to say otherwise is mischievous!” says Rugeje, a veteran of Zanu PF thuggery and violence. He can afford to be dismissive, aggressive and arrogant; he will break the peace to punish the mischievous; he knows that he is above the law!

  1. IN a move which flies in the face of government's claims of a new dispensation, Vice-President and former army commander retired General Constantino Chiwenga's wife Mary recently grabbed the 300-hectare Arda Seeds farm along the Domboshava Road, the Zimbabwe Independent has learnt.

Here we go! All talk of the post Mugabe era being about rule of law is nonsense.

  2. "The opposition must also unite at an unprecedented level so that they know we are behind one candidate for a certain area."

The opposition can win "if it overwhelms polls!" Etc., etc.!

These are some of the feeble excuse we have learned to expect from the mentally challenged Zimbabweans. Tsvangirai polled 73% of the votes in the March 2008 vote but that was not "overwhelming enough!

Of course, people like Pastor Mawarire are idiots who have to justify why the nation should continue contesting flawed elections. It is insane to keep taking part in rigged elections and expecting that Zanu PF will rig the vote and, somehow, lose the election!

Zimbabwe would not be in this mess if Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC banded mongooses had implemented the reforms. They failed to get even one reform implemented in five years. Instead of everyone stand firm and demand the implementation of reforms, as SADC leaders had rightly advised, we have idiots like Mawarire advising that we can win rigged elections if we try even harder!

There are some people the nation would be better off if they had never been born people like Mawarire, these MDC sell-outs and these Zanu PF thugs are some of these people. They are the nation's curse!

  3. VP Chiwenga lives in a mansion, has 45 gold watches, a fleet of posh cars, etc., etc. how dare he accuse a nurse earning $284 of being greedy!

  4. Global Witness has long probed the relationship between the security forces and diamonds, given the potential impact on Zimbabwe's human rights record and democratic functioning.

Alongside the CIO connection, we set out in our 2017 investigation extensive evidence that the military were also a major beneficiary of Marange diamonds. The military's power in Zimbabwe has been made highly visible in recent months through their role in the "soft coup" that saw Mugabe ousted and the installation of Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a further sign of the immense political power the defence forces wield, the new cabinet includes Perence Shiri and Sibusiso Moyo both formerly senior security force figures, while new Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, retired as Commander of the Defence Forces to take up his post.

Anyone who thinks the November coup was about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship is naïve. It was about making sure the Joint Operation Command junta stopped Mugabe handing over power to his wife and the G40 faction. Having secured power these thugs will never give it up. They have the looted wealth and the murderous past to protect.

If we are serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship then we must demand the implementation of the reforms BEFORE the elections. The elections taking place right now is a waste of time and resources and must be declared null and void because there is no way the process can ever be free and fair.

  5. President Mnangagwa and his coup junta's position is that Zanu PF has never rigged elections by cheating or using violence and hence the reason the party does not see the need to implement any democratic reforms. People like Retired Major Engelbert Rugeje are not thugs but very loyal Zanu PF members who have done everything in the power to promote the party's interests.

If push came to shove and the mayhem of 2008 was repeated, President Mnangagwa's position is clear there was nothing wrong and anyone who says otherwise must produce the evidence. Any evidence will be disregarded unless it has been tested in a court of law, which will never happen hence the reason he does not want any meaning reforms implemented. He wants the Police, Courts, etc. to remain forever hamstrung!

There is simply no chance of the country holding free and fair elections without first implementing the democratic reforms.

President Mnangagwa and his coup junta have too much to lose, absolute political power, looted wealth and a murderous past to keep under wraps, in agreeing to hold free and fair elections.

If there is ever going to be free and fair elections in Zimbabwe, then someone else must be tasked to implement the democratic reforms not Zanu PF. Declaring these flawed elections null and void is the most rational and effective way of getting the reform implemented!

  6. MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to restore the people's freedoms and human rights during the GNU. You have never told the nation why MDC failed to get even one reform implemented in five years!

Right now MDC is asking the people to participate in elections which everyone can see are being rigged in total disregard of your own repeated promise not to take part without reforms! You, Mr Chamisa and your fellow MDC friends are corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs!

  7. In the Lancaster House Agreement Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF friends agreed to withdraw all their freedom fighters into assembly points but they never did that. They not only kept many of their freedom fighters in the field they also instructed them to go out and campaign for the party. The told the people if Zanu PF did not win the civil war will restart and they stopped other political players from campaigning. Many areas were "no go areas" for everyone except Zanu PF members.

Engelbert Rugeje and the war veterans are re-enacting the same thing freedom fighters were doing in the 1980 elections; they are telling people the violence of 2008 and 2013 will return if they do not vote for Zanu PF.

The elections stakes are just too high for President Mnangagwa and his junta regime, they are not going to take any chance of losing the elections and power by holding free and fair elections. If these democratic reforms are ever going to see the light of day then someone else and not any of these Zanu PF thugs will have to implement the reforms.

By failing to get even one reform implemented it is clear as day that the Zanu PF dictatorship is alive and kicking. All thinking Zimbabweans now know the nation will never ever get out of the political and economic mess Zanu PF has dragged us into ever since the party got into power in 1980. Declaring the present flawed process null and void and appointing someone else to implement the reforms is the best way out. The alternative in allowing Zanu PF to rig the elections and have another coup!

  8. Chamisa receive a hero’s welcome at the Independence celebrations!
As long as Chamisa does not demand the implementation of the democratic reforms and take away Zanu PF's carte blanche powers to rig the elections, Zanu PF can be a very tolerant and accommodate party. Morgan Tsvangirai agreed to kick the reforms out of the window and the then President Robert Mugabe denied him and his MDC friends nothing!

Zanu PF wants MDC to take part in these elections beaming with confidence they will win rigged elections; this helps with giving the process credibility! If Chamisa helps Zanu PF get away with another rigged election, the regime will certainly thank him for it, Chamisa may even be declared a national hero long before he is dead!
