War veterans want vigilant to fight "political thugs" - reform Police and let them fight

“Zimbabweans need to know that genuine veterans of Chimurenga Liberation War see no party or individual worth dying or killing for. The sacrifices made by sons and daughters of our nation during the armed struggle was a high enough price for us all to gain unfettered freedom of political choice,” said ZNLWVA secretary for Education Wilbert Sadomba.
“Failure to respect uphold this value of liberation is tantamount to denigrating the ethos upon which this very nation is founded.  Their sacrifices cannot be in vain and therefore we strongly denounce the perpetrators and especially their organizers.”
The ZNLWVA urged citizens to establish community groups that will hit back at political party thugs that unleash violence on citizens.
This is highly commendable of the war veterans; however there are three important issues they must address/understand:
1)     Many of the war veterans from this group were actively involved in the reign of terror that rained on the people of Zimbabwe since independence to impose this Zanu PF dictatorship on the nation. These war veterans failed to “uphold the values of the liberation”, they abrogated unto themselves the veto to decide who ruled the nation where everyone else had a vote – if any say at all.

If the people of Zimbabwe are to believe that these war veterans have seen the errors of their past then they must publicly confess all their serious human rights violations and apologize to the nation.

The people of Zimbabwe know the Zanu PF factional war is hotting up and the Mnangagwa faction is particularly keen to be seen as on the ordinary Zimbabwean side. The people will be very foolish to be sucked into the factional war only to remove one dictator for another, have the same war veterans reclaim their veto over who rules the country.

2)     Zimbabweans does not need vigilant groups to guarantee their freedoms and basic human rights all we need is the implementation of all the democratic reforms designed to restore the powers and independence of the Police, ZEC and all the other institutions tasked to maintain law and order, deliver free and fair elections, etc.

So, instead of calling for “community groups that will hit back at political party thugs that unleash violence on citizens” ZNLWVA must support the call for all democratic reforms to be implemented BEFORE the next elections!

  1. People like Chris Mutsvangwa are political thugs who believe in taking the law into their own hands and hence the reason they would want vigilantes to confront Mugabe and G40 political thugs. Asking for the democratic reforms designed to free the Police to do their statutory duties of maintaining law and order is something that will never occur to seasoned thugs like Mutsvangwa.

Mnangagwa, Mutsvangwa and all the other Zanu PF thugs are they one who created this monster called Robert Mugabe. There is theatrical justice in Mugabe not only failing to live up to his promise to make these Zanu PF idiots rich, many today live in abject poverty same as the rest of us, but the tyrant is now discarding them, haunting the likes of Mnangagwa to death. The idiots created the monster and now it is after them!

During the war of independence povo played their part in the struggle but only to be discarded and abused by Mugabe and his corrupt, vote rigging and tyrannical regime. Mutsvangwa and company are reaching out to povo for help in the fight against Mugabe and his G40 faction. Povo will be very foolish to fail to see beyond the tip of their nose; Mutsvangwa will revert to his thuggery habits and impose Mnangagwa as soon as G40 is out of the way.

I agree 100%, povo must insist on the implementation of the democratic reforms designed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship, whether it is led by G40 or Mnangagwa that is immaterial; the dictatorship must be cut down, uprooted, burnt to ashes and the ashes flushed down the toilet. There must be no chance of the Zanu PF dictatorship rising from the ashes like the Sphinx!

  2. @ Dennis Mambanje

“That they {war vets} used to fight in the enemy’s corner does not help us at this juncture. Let’s celebrate that at long last, they have seen the light on the road to Damascus. Let us bury whatever differences we have, and confront the common enemy first, and look at other issues later and who knows, there might be no need of pulling out the skeletons from the cupboards after romping to victory,” you say.

Frankly, I do not think you even know where Damascus is let alone claim the war veterans “have seen the light on the road to Damascus”!

War veterans like Chris Mutsvangwa have made no secret of the fact that they support Emmerson Mnangagwa in the on-going Zanu PF factional war and, if the Lacoste faction should emerge victorious, would impose Mnangagwa as the next president of Zimbabwe. The people of Zimbabwe would be very foolish to have suffered and sacrificed so many lives over these last 37 years fighting to end this de facto one-party, Zanu PF, cum one-man, Robert Mugabe, dictatorship only to replace one dictator for another. What we want is to cut down, uproot, burn the whole Zanu PF dictatorship to ashes and flush the ashes in the toilet so there is absolutely no chance of the dictatorship rising from the ashes like the Sphinx!

If Mutsvangwa & co. have indeed had their Damascene moment then thy must join the rest of us and demand the implementation of the democratic reforms designed to dismantle the dictatorship and only then call for elections. These morons want the elections to go ahead with not even one reform implemented because they may be fighting each other for factional dominance they are, however, united in resisting free, fair and credible elections!

Mutsvangwa, Mnangagwa, etc. are all seasoned thugs; just like Mai Mujuru, “the puppy who opened her eyes, after 34 years in Zanu PF; they are quick to criticize the Zanu PF dictatorship once it is clear they are no longer benefiting from it. If anything has opened that lot’s eyes if is growing poverty and their desperate effort to secure absolute power which they still believe is their only sure way to economic prosperity. They see Mugabe as a failed dictator but not the system itself.

Mutsvangwa, Mnangagwa, etc. students of democratic enlightenment! Yeah right!
